About

We've finally made it! ROCK-A-FIELD 2012 over two days with on-site camping. The RAF 2012, the seventh edition, will again be held on the Herchesfeld in this fabulous green setting near the town of Roeser, on Saturday June 23rd & Sunday June 24th , in natural surroundings, south of Luxembourg-City.

Join us once more for the party, the music and the fun outside!

This website will grow with the flow of events. It will be regularly updated with all relevant information. As soon as news are dropping in, we'll put them online.

How to get to the RAF-site

The most clever way to join the RAF is to use public transport (rail & bus): Your RAF ticket is officially valid for ALL public transportation everywhere in Luxembourg, that’s for busses as well as trains... Special trains will get you to the Bettembourg railway station free of charge, and a free non-stop bus shuttle will transport you directly to the RAF from there! The best plan would be: Get to one of the railway stations (detailed time table here) and you’ll be carried safely right to the very gates of the RAF and back home after the fest for FREE. Please note that there is NO car park in or around Bettembourg.

Afoot or by bicycle or motorcycle: The RAF-site is located between the villages of Crauthem and Hellange. Car traffic is prohibited on the road between these two villages. A bicycle/motorcycle parking lot at the entrance to the RAF-site is free of charge.

You need to drop off somebody and pick 'em up after the show? Use the meeting point at the Bettembourg railway station! Easy to access by car, and there is a free non-stop bus shuttle, from 10:30am until the very end of the show! Please note that there is NO car park in or around Bettembourg.

By car: Drive to the Park & Ride Bouillon car park, south of Luxembourg City (63 rue de Bouillon, L-1248 Luxembourg). A non-stop bus shuttle will transport you directly to the RAF! This shuttle transfer will be charged EUR 3.00 per person return fare.

Again: There is NO public parking space in or around the villages of Roeser, Crauthem, Bettembourg and Hellange.

ALL TRANPORTATIONS, SUCH AS TRAINS OR SHUTTLES WILL OPERATE UNTIL THE VERY VERY END OF THE RAF. SO IS THE CAR PARK. THERE’S NO REASON WHATSOEVER TO HURRY OR TO MISS A BAND BY LEAVING EARLY.

Food & Drinks

Suggestions du jour!

RAF is slowly but surely becoming a culinary experience as well!
On the menu: Loads of classics such as Luxembourg’s grill-sausage, the real sliced curry sausage, hot-dog's and French fries, as well as our much beloved chicken- or veggie-wok with a spicy thai sauce, a mug of pasta with tomato sauce (veggie) or Bolognese sauce (meaty) and a mug of fresh fruit and ice cream (if the weather is on our side...).
And for you drinking bunch of people, the usual stuff will of course be available. More or less loads of it! And as we know that some of you know how to appreciate a fine glass of bubbly, crémant will be available yet again!

Rock, Reuse, Recycle

Collect 20 items (cups or drink carriers) on the festival grounds and exchange them for a free softdrink!
RAF is indeed becoming greener and cleaner. The protection of the environment and sustainable development are on everybody’s mind. And on ours too. Here’s our humble contribution on how to minimize the impact of the RAF on the environment:

Waste management: All softdrinks are served in reusable bottles. Our supplier Sinalco is indeed making sure the empty bottles are being collected and reused after the festival. Merely water is being served in PET bottles and those are being recycled. Glass bottles are obviously being reused too: they are actually collected, washed and reused directly by our supplier. All food is served in biodegradable containers (cardboard, bamboo, etc) and there will be no plastic fork with your fries. Just as last year, we are implementing a recycle policy in order to limit the amount of waste on site. On showday, the punter can exchange 20 items (cups or drink carriers) for a free softdrink. The amount of unrecycled/unreused waste has dropped by 74% in comparison to the first edition of RAF, back in 2006.

Transport: In coordination with the MOBILITEITS ZENTRAL, RAF is strongly encouraging the punters to use public transport/transport with low environmental impact. The RAF ticket is indeed also a valid transportation voucher for the public transportation network in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Use the public trains and busses for free with your ticket then. The cost is included in the face value of your ticket. The main hub is the Bettembourg train station. From there, a free shuttle is taking the festival crowds to the RAF site. The following measures are being taken in order to encourage the use of public transportation: There are NO parking spaces, neither in or around Bettembourg nor on the festival grounds. Trying to circle around in your car, looking for some, just won't make sense. Furthermore, the roads surrounding the RAF-site are closed to traffic. Cars are requested to use the P&R Bouillon. For a fee, a bus shuttle is taking RAF-ticketholders from there to the festival grounds. Bicycles, by the way, have free access to the festival site... and it's healthy at that!

No gadget policy: In order to reduce unnecessary waste on site, we have instructed our partners, suppliers and sponsors not to distribute any gadgets or goodies other than the RAF Essentiel, which is being printed on recycled paper.

Food and drinks: More than 75% of the food and drinks on offer at RAF are being supplied locally. Besides sustaining the local economy, this policy is considerably limiting the carbon footprint of goods transportation.

Energy: The onsite electricity is part of the public Roeser electricity network, which is powered by the electricity company eida.green®. eida.green® is supplying electricity generated from sources with no/low impact on the environment: 75% from wind energy, 12.5% from biomass and 12.5% from hydropower.

Cash System

We will have 6 cash points on site where you can convert your money into RAF-units. Use your RAF-units to pay for food and drinks.

Beware! Pickpockets

Please take care where you store your cash. Please stay in firm control of your wallet at all times and report any unsolicited body touching action to our security staff. Our friends from the police will have some of their plainclothes chaps on patrol as well.

WC facilities

There are toilets and urinals at the site. They are being cleaned at regular intervals. Toilet paper is available. Urinating outside of toilets or urinals is strictly forbidden... for real!

Tickets

Tickets are on sale at the regular ticket shops and online www.atelier.lu at a price of €86.00 (+ costs). €1.00 out of each ticket sold will be donated to Friendship International Luxembourg to help in the renovation of a floating hospital ship in Bangladesh. More info on www.friendship-lu.org. Leaving the premises gives no right to readmissions.

Ticket refund

Purchased tickets will be refunded ONLY if the Rock-A-Field Open Air would be cancelled. Billing or running order changes are not a valid reason for a refund. Refund will be made at the salespoints where the tickets have initially been purchased.
